the only school in this parish to vote yes was CL Lafourche... and they suck at most everything.
CL does not suck at almost everything. The only sport it has not had much of any success in is Basketball (and it's still had its moments and didn't have to recruit the players to do so unlike some school ), and recently football, and that's almost definitely about to change with the hiring of the new head coach.
- CL baseball = most successful public in area
- CL soccer = most successful public in area
- Girls cross country coming off district championship
- Girls track always at or near top of district
- Girls soccer = most successful public in parish
- Girls softball = most successful public in parish
Even academically CL has just about bypassed SL for top school in every category. Since Kimball's taken over as principal CL's test scores have almost doubled. Latest EOC test scores CL outscored SL (Algebra 72% to 62%, Biology 62% to 59 %, English 70% to 65%, SL outscored CL 53% to 45% in Geometry). Hell even CL's band won state this year & last.

In regards to sports though, the reason CL voted yes and SL/Thibodaux didn't is because SL/Thibodaux don't lose as many kids to privates as CL does.
- CL being in the middle of EDW/Vandy and now CCA/Houma Christian it loses a good bit of kids to them.
- SL is too far of a drive to lose very many kids to either school.
- Thibodaux does lose some to EDW but most kids in the Thibodaux area that go to EDW have been going there since they were younger. Plus Thibodaux has so many more kids than CL/SL that the impact is minimal.
It's the same for HLB in Terrebonne. They're hard hit by Vandy, Houma Christian, CCA even EDW. The rest of the schools only have to fend off a couple of them, and for some like ST rarely any of them because of the distance.
If this was a couple years ago when Curtis was stealing all those South Lafourche kids and you guys were crying about it to no end I bet SL would have voted, YES! BUT since Curtis has left you guys alone and EDW/Vandy are to far to have any impact on you why not vote no on a vote that will pass by a landslide anyway. That way SL fans can say see we're not scared.
