"I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt" bullshite makes me sick. Les Miles has been at our university long enough that we know exactly what he is. He has amassed a good record. He is an above average recruiter in a very target rich environment. He is a good man. He is a terrible gameday coach. He has terrible clock management skills. He does not know how to finish close games. He is not a good play caller. This is who he is.
The benefit of the doubt bullshite, and the behind the scenes act of this being a matter of National Security is a bunch of crap. Do what you have to do. Make the changes necessary so that you don't need to be concerned with play calling anymore - you are terrible at it. Watch tape of other teams and how they use their time outs and finish games. Learn how to manage the clock.
How about some level of transparency. How about saying, yeah we have problems on the offensive side of the ball, and we are going to make the necessary changes to fix that situation. Why is everything a secret? Say we have to change. What's wrong with that? When we had the co-defensive coordinator situation, he had to make sure he got these guys other jobs before he got Chavis. That is not his responsibility. Do what you have to do keep your program on top. Why do we put up with this shite from somebody that we pay top dollar for?
He did say we have to change. Happy now?
Miles admitted there’s “a need to execute this offense in a more effective manner.” He added, “that’s something we’re all looking to get accomplished.”
