Again, you have to consider the competition each player is playing against.

When Brad played, he was going up against legit centers who were skilled at the position. Howard is often going up against PF's playing the center position, or centers who just aren't that skilled.

Imagine if some of those 90's centers were playing the position against some of the centers in today's NBA. Their stats would be off the charts.
