do not attempt to rebuild a lower unit yourself. There's three different pressed on parts in there and proper lash must be set with a dial indicator or else the gears won't mesh properly. frick,even I won't frick with a lower unit after watching Ray rebuild mine. He's on Florida Blvd. In Denham.

Btw,have you tried pouring in some Seafoam yet.to see if it fixes your lower unit?

The lower isn't broken per se. It is just about 70% disassembled and I noticed that one of the bevel gears is chipped, so I was going to replace it. It also needs gaskets and seals. Seafoam won't work at this point as it is not attached and therefore not running.

Do you have Ray in Denham's number or address?
