What ADP needs to learn is how to spin on one foot, actually this is one of the most valuble piece of footwork a big can have. It's ALSO, neccessary for a drop step.
But in ADP situation on D and blocking shots it would do wonders.
For example ,when the QUICK offensive player he's guarding is starting to dribble/ drive pass him and actually has a half a step or a slight edge- don't continue to try to shuffle your feet to catch up to him and attempt to reach over him to block his shot, instead- spin on your lagging leg( spin away from player but towards the rim) and when the spin is complete nothing has changed in regard to what foot was leading or lagging- except now you take A ONE FOOT ,STRECHING LEANING LEAP toward the backboard(this is how the lost ground is made up), . It's just 1. spin and 2. long jump off ONE foot and lean. And I guarantee you the offensive player will not know how the heck he blocked his shot.
. With ADP's height and long legs, it would be money for him.
yeah i know even if he knows this he still would have to have it in him to do it.

Im hoping coach finds a way to use ADP on defense effectively. I think the main problem is ADP really, really lacks any type of quickness. I think it really takes him some time to get from "I want to move this foot" to actually moving this foot.
BUT I agree that he needs to let the offensive guy by but trail and block from around the side or back in those situations. He is fine when he is posted up, it's just the drive from the top of the key that scares me.
