North is more top-heavy - they have your dominant teams like West Monroe, Neville, OCS, Evangel, Calvary, Haynesville
South has a better spread of teams from top to bottom, that usually make for more competitive district play.

just look at the demographics. south la. has far many more kids to play sports than the north the vast numbers and talent base goes hand in hand.
