Old news. Yes they sucked for a long time but a few years ago Winchester changed everything and started putting out awesome rifles.

I've taken most of my deer with the 30-06, several with 7mm mag., and my Dad liked his .270. There's enough variety of loads for each that any of these calibers would be fine for whitetail. Last buck I got with my Ruger No.1 in 45-70, which admittedly might have been overkill, but I saw the deer drop. I hate tracking.
This year I may use the Mosin Nagant, just for kicks. I'll be hunting in my backyard. Literally.
