By the board's logic, should Chavis be held responsible for the defensive penalties?

I feel like the offsides, personal fouls and pass interference calls on defense kept A&M drives going, especially in the 4th quarter.

Because they did. The D let them off the hook twice and they scored a late TD on the drive. Reminded me of Arkansas in 2008.

Nope.
Chavis only coaches them to do good stuff. Miles is responsible for the penalties-- that's the only place he interferes with Chavis if I had to guess. He obviously won't let Chavis coach discipline.
