I saw a quote from an article about the twins that said calling out Cal for cheating is like calling out Lance Armstrong for doping.
It doesn't matter that they're cheating, because they're competing against a bunch of other guys that are cheating.
ETA: I didn't quote it exactly, but that's the gist of it, and it makes sense.
College basketball is a dirty business. There are maybe 10-15 major programs that are, relatively speaking, clean. The degree of dirtiness is what most people are really arguing over. Most people disagree with me on this, but I really do think the 1 and done rule is going to keep making it worse and worse.

My only argument to this is it was bad before the one and done rule even showed up.
I'd actually make the argument that recruiting was dirtier pre-internet because it in itself is a part of a system of checks and balances for the NCAA that include but is not exclusive to the change of sports journalists into primarily investigative reporters, Twitter, and camera phones.
CCNY's point shaving scandal is a point for me in that argument. 7 programs, several of which didn't survive the scandal, with several players from those programs involved. I can't imagine something of that gravity happening today.
