I was born an raised here in good ole Louisiana, still live and work here, received an undergrad from LSU, an undergrad degree from UNO, and an upper level degree from Penn State.

And I have to say that what I've seen posted here is some of the biggest hypocritical, pot calling the kettle black nonsense I've seen in a long time. Plenty of PSU students and alumni have some strange fascination with JoePa and I agree that it can be strange, but have you ever been to the Tiger Rant or LSU campus grounds on game day? It's no less cult like than some of the crazy attachment people have with JoePa. Anyone that says otherwise is delusional and probably part of the LSU cult.

And this is a huge sickening story so of course wackos are going to make the news. They need to just remove the statue and get it over with. It's time for the university to move forward without JoePa, push the agenda of the victim's healing, and show how they are going to prevent this from happening again.

+1. I know this isn't exactly a forum that is going to display well thought out arguments, but some of the shite people have posted over the past few days is beyond ignorant. It seems like some posters are bending over backwards to show how against child molestation they are. Guess what? Everyone is against it. But evidently that doesnt go far enough. You see posts like "Death penalty? They should burn the whole fricking school to the ground" and "anyone who supports Joe Paterno is just as bad as Sandusky."

The articles have said that the statue is staying up FOR NOW. I would be surprised if it stays up for good. I would guess they will give people in the community time to argue their points for why it should/ shouldn't come down. Like it or not, Paterno was a huge part of that community for a long time. I don't think he deserves anyone's respect but I don't know that the world is going to end because the statue hasn't come down three days after the Freeh report.

Yeah...the hyperbole and indignation is par for the course when it comes to mass mob reaction...it turns into a contest over who is more outraged and upset...and then the over-the-top becomes the norm and anything less than crazy-talk makes you an ignorant apologist..."tear down the stadium and never play football again...no football, good-bye all sports and Title IX. Burn it all to the ground...the whole University!"

Ah, feel better now.

My posts have been for the most part civil and well thought out, but look at some of the responses to me. It's like a contest to see who can be more outraged and over the top. Let's drop a tactical nuke on University Park right now!

I have no doubt the statue is coming down, as it should. PSU is moving slowly because of the wacky fans and trying to avoid mass chaos. This is calculated responses by the university. The Freeh report just came out and it's going to take time for people to fully comprehend the magnitude if the report.
