Halo 2 was nothing more than a race to the power weapons or finding another weapon to dual wield as you couldn't hold your own with just the default weapon.
MLG managed to make it a little more tolerable with the Battle Rifle being the default but even still, Halo 2's campaign and story was a jumbled mess and a mediocre affair at best.

Halo 2 multiplayer is still heads above the shite we play today. Maps were designed to encourage head to head battles.
