I think moving all the religious threads to the OT was the downfall of any hope for civility.

The OT is a waste land, the political board actually has had some GREAT debates the last few years.

I don't know what caused the threads to be moved from the poli board to the OT, but It had unforeseen unintended consequences IMO (gay Jesus threads)

I don't think the admins had any idea what kind of shite show it was going to turn into once the threads got moved to the OT. They were used to (I think) a more intellectual group discussing these topics of religion, atheism, the bible etc.

Religious/non-religious threads on the OT turned off a lot of people I think and I wouldn't be surprised if traffic went down overall in the last couple of days due to people trying to avoid it. Granted, you don't have to click the threads. But a lot of people don't have that kind of self control and want to jump head first into the pissing match, then complain about it afterwards.

I think a worldviews board would keep all the crazy contained to one board and if people go on that board, they know exactly what they are getting themselves into. Check your feelings at the door.

Just some thoughts... I think the board would be a hit after seeing the other atheist/religion boards across the web. I think a lot of those posters would drift over to tigerdroppings once word got out. This site is easy to navigate through and once those posters find the worldviews board, who knows? They might become fans of the other boards too.

Everyone wins
