While possessing this potential, he had arguably the greatest rookie season for a QB ever. Most don't seem to think that Luck will be able to match Newton's accomplishments early on, yet even with Newton's enormous potential (and proven success at the NFL level), Luck is still regarded as the better prospect. I don't see the drastic separation that is said to exist.
Andrew Luck is simply the closest thing we have ever seen to a perfect prospect since John Elway. IMO, he is the probably the best prospect of all-time, since QBs are held to a higher standard in modern times.
If Cam and Luck were in the same draft class, then 32 out of 32 teams would have taken Luck first. He is clearly the superior prospect. Will he be the better NFL QB? Hell if I know.
Luck's development of a QB is lightyears ahead of Cam in terms of pro development at the times of their respective drafts. Obviously, Cam has proven he can play as a competent, talented, and potential superstar QB, but that does not mean he is the superior prospect.
Cam had a season for the ages at Auburn and a terrific rookie year, but he does not quite give NFL GM's wet dreams like Luck does.

I disagree. Moreover, I think he is set up to fail and will be regarded as a bust in 12 years relative to his hype coming into the league.
I think he will prove to be a solid starter in the NFL, nothing more.

Being the best prospect has a lot to do with being a SURE thing. Luck's bust factor is practically zilch. That's why he is so coveted. Who knows how good he becomes and I doubt he's the next John Elway. But he'll be good enough in the league to win.
