If you want a decent resource for wine reviews, try cellar tracker: cellar tracker

Most of the professional reviews, or "shelf talkers" you'll see at wine stores are fricking useless, unless you know the palate of the reviewer. CT is useful to me because it generally represents people who love wine and have gone through the effort to post their tasting notes. I can search on specific wines I am interested in, which in all likelyhood will be reviewed by people who like the same kinds of wines I like. For example people who are posting tasting notes on Giacosa Barolos are probably going to be people who like and drink a lot of Barolo, hence their reviews to someone who likes Barolo are going to be valuable. Don't pay attention to the scores, read the actual descriptions because they will tell you more about if that reviewer likes things in wine that you like.

In the end your own palate is your best guide to discover what you like, but it's helpful to find references to keep you from making mistakes. I've found CT to be useful to me.

Thanks!

That website looks busy but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. It's always good to find a group with specific Interests (taste) in order to learn and understand win that is mostly geared towards my liking.

I'm always open for suggestions.

I've always liked full bodied heavier tasting alcohol. Single Malt Scotch and dry spicy wines. I've not been able to get into the Whites at this point in time. I don't even care for the smell for starters, ha.

The Cinq Cepages has become one of my favorites after having it a couple times. Actually picked up a 2006 for valentines day.
