Akron hires Jim Tressel to vice president position

University officials say he will work with alumni, community organizations and friends of the school to develop strategies and efforts to help students succeed.
The former Ohio State coach has a history with Akron. He was a graduate assistant with the Zips and earned a master's degree from the school.
"It's always important where you are and to come back to the place that gave you your first chance," said Tressel during the news conference.
Tressel, who resigned after 10 seasons with the Buckeyes on Memorial Day, helped in Arkon's search that led to hiring of Terry Bowden as football coach in December.

Not for the next 4-5 years as the sanctions follow him. Doubt he coaches again.

You think most Akron fans will even think about this after losses? If Bowden doesn't win people will want the Ohio college football coaching legend already on campus rather than him.

From one of the premier jobs in college sports at Ohio State to almost getting the Colts job to Akron...It's taken a major turn for the worse..lol
