Their schedule isn't as weak as you may think. Some folks make no distinction between the non-AQ conferences, but there is as much difference between them as there is the AQ conferences. The Mountain West is not the Sun Belt. As a matter of fact, there have been years when the Big East, and even the ACC, have had lower power rankings than the best non-AQ conferences. Last year Boise State actually had a stronger schedule than Wisconsin. For further proof of what I'm talking about, look at the latest BCS computer rankings. Houston's computer ranking is #13 while Boise State is #5, ahead of Stanford at #6.

No doubt. In fact, the B'east was no better than the MW IMO.

Unreliable sources. At one point earlier in the season, the computer rankings said Rice, Tulsa and UCLA was a tougher schedule than Oregon, NW State and West Virginia.
