Tulane commits to spending more on athletics = construction jobs during facility improvement, more full time employees of the athletics dept, more local companies providing services to Tulane
Tulane has 20-30k show up for games = good for business in the uptown area
Tulane draws more visiting fans = hotels, restaurants, other businesses all benefit
Tulane gets invited to a better conference = more road fans coming in


This is really not hard to see how Tulane improving their team, their athletics department, and their conference affiliation helps the state.

Allow me to teach you something that most people already know at a very young age: if you think everyone around you is wrong and they are "fricking stupid", then the problem most likely doesn't lie with them.
