What the frick are you talking about? of course JJ has "held on" to the position. I imagine you believe he will be "the best person" for the job when he comes back. After all, he held the job for the past two years. The argument is simply that the best person for the job doesn't always start.

Shouldn't JJ start upon his reinstatement since he is obviously the best person for the job?

There's miles and miles of difference between the difficulty of a QB trying to win a job when he has not practiced with the team for six weeks, and a QB trying to win a job over two offseasons.
