Aside from market, UM offers significantly better academics. According to the ever popular US News and World Report UM is #90, WVU comes in at #168. Barring ACC schools and assuming OU and OSU go west, UM is clearly the best get for 14. WVU makes a strong case for 15, but who do you take to get to 16?

14 schools is the limit, 16 is just to many!

The SEC exists primarily for the furtherance of SEC football. Any other reason (other than UK's basketball fetish and LSU's dabble into baseball) is purely coincidental. I think it is fine that Mizzou is a great academic center, but why then did the B1G pass them by last go-round? Why have they not scooped them up this go-round? Are they also afraid of mighty Baylor? WVU is the stuff SEC football legends have been made of, and part of the same kind of mystique that has made our brand the premier brand in college ball today. Selling out for big tv markets and weak product is like trying to equate the exquisite taste of a real New Orleans po-boy with a subway sandwich. Looks remotely similar, but man...

People like Slive don't want money for money's sake. They want to dominate TV markets so that the conference has the resources to be #1 a long time after they leave their roles. This is their legacy.

We can all name programs, like Minnesota and Pitt, that won a bunch of titles when God was a boy but suck now. Things change in college football. Smart people like Slive didn't become well off by standing pat. They are always looking to make things better.

Mizzou is a solid get for the SEC.

Mo has been consistently overrated for years. WVU has a long history of success. Jaw is correct.

I want wvu but they'll be a 6 or 7 win team most years in the sec. That's perfectly fine with me.

your opinion on the matter has been registered on this board too many times. Stop posting your ignorance for the entire world to see.

Missouri is clearly a better option for the SEC, no if's and's or but's

You don't get it. This legacy will be a legacy of selling out what made the SEC #1 in the first place, and why it remains there today. Players want to play in front of stadiums filled with rabid, screaming fans, not tv screens.

You and Jaw prefer WVU's tradition. Fine. I agree that WVU is a better cultural fit than MU. However, college football is a business now, and this will be a business decision. MU is clearly the better choice here.

The only real business of the SEC is college football. Quality football and tradition so thick you can cut it with a knife. Counting beans is something else entirely.
