Is Jefferson substantially better than Marcus Randall? I see people refer to Marcus as being so terrible but, and this is just my opinion, I don't think Jefferson is much better if he is at all.

Jefferson was significantly worse last season. His sophomore year they were a toss up. Hopefully he is much improved this year.

Randall had some terrible games where he just looked panicked and uncomposed, but his inconsistency was still better than Jefferson's consistency.

When you look at Randall's numbers, they were better than I remember him being. Jefferson's performance as a Sophomore was close to what Randall did his senior year. Jefferson's performance last year was awful for the most part.

Perfectly said. Randall wasn't great but you knew what you were getting. He had a few games where he led us down the field to come back and win. Jefferson hasn't led us out of a huddle and doesn't even know when you should call a timeout or spike the ball ("clock it").

I would take Randall over JJ in a second. I dont think Randall was anything special but at least you had a guy who generally made good decisions and I would bet a much better team leader!

I was thinking the same thing that JJ and Randall are a lot a like. Miles has pumped up JJ and he has yet to step up and be the guy, Saban did Randall the same way. IMO they both suck and was glad to see Randall go just like I will be glad to see JJ go although he may have taken his self out.

if you put randall on this team he would produce better numbers than jj and the team would win the same games.

im not so sure the same happens if jj is on the 02 team

He might be as far as his ability and talent. Randall as a fifth year senior (?) made you wonder how he was ever offered a scholarship at an SEC school. He just didn't have it. Having said that, he could look very good in certain spots. Nick really fricked him in 2004 by constantly changing him in and out with Russell. A move that arguably won us the Oregon St. game, but arguably lost us the Auburn game.

Jefferson seems to have never reached his full potential. He shows greatness but then makes you wonder what the hell he is doing. He actually regressed last year.

So as a talented player, yes Jefferson is better. As a QB in general, that is a much closer call.

Against LSU's toughest opponents in '04, Auburn & Florida, Randall played better than Russell.

Let's not also forget that Saban also occasionally put Flynn in the rotation, such as with the Miss. State game (where each QB played less than 50% of the game) and the Iowa game.

Take a look at him with the Mannings the summer before his senior year, and tell me what you see...

what greatness has jj shown? he has had a few good games but overall the guy struggles to throw for 100 a game.

its down right embarrassing when your qb calls 100 yards a game a good day.
