Fantasy EPL help

folks, I am interning with the Dynamo this summer and have been invited to play in the front office EPL league. I really enjoy following soccer and watching, but am at the very beginning stages of being a "true" fan, so I only know the big names. The league has a salary cap. I was hoping to come here and get some advice from the soccer board on who I should use my money on, would be a good steal, etc to draft a good team.

edit: I posted all the prices for each player. 100 is the cap. 2 goalies, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, and 3 forwards. Can only have a max of 3 players from the same team!

For playing up to 60 minutes 1
For playing 60 minutes or more 2
For each goal scored by a goalkeeper or defender 6
For each goal scored by a midfielder 5
For each goal scored by a forward 4
For each goal assist 3

It depends on how the league is scored. If you get points for shutouts, I'd pick the low end starters on the best defenses. If you get more points from goals from midfielders, I'd spend more on attacking midfielders than forwards, etc.

I don't think DeJong is going to get you many fantasy points. He's got 1 goal at City.
Its hard to score good defense and passing and usually only Defenders get clean sheet points.

that's true. I've done completed passes, tackles, etc. in terms of goals. both of those guys bring maybe 2 goals total at City.

Yeah, you're going to want to stick to Offensive minded midfielders (Dempsey). Keep an eye out for guys that are in the game as mids, but play forward or are listed as D, but play mid.

Odemwingie scored 15 goals last season and had 9 assists, more than most of the strikers who cost more than him. Clint Dempsey scored 12 and is listed as a midfielder.

I'd buy Micah Richards or Vincent Kompany at that price. Man City led the EPL in clean sheets last season then I'd get a Chelsea defender or two as well.

Unless you're taking EVERY game starters from the big teams (Terry, Rooney, Gerrard) I'd stay away from the other players on big teams. You have no clue whether Kalou will play for Chelsea, or Park for Man U in any given week.
Charlie Adam was GOING to play for Blackpool last season, Darren Bent for Villa, Scott Parker for West Ham, etc.
Stay away from Arsenal, Man City players for similar reasons (or at least, don't load up on them.) Those teams will change 8 players from game to game.
