Thanks. Now I'm in a sticky stituation. Hear me out. I went to go get a 1 day fishing license. She said the basic fishing license will work all over the state. Then I read the bottom of the license after I paid (note:all sales are final)and it said that you need a saltwater fishing license if you are "below the saltwater line". I just read the map and I am going to Lake Pontchartrain. What should I do?

Bought a freshwater only fishing license?
You can get the saltwater one for only $5.50 more.

I thought the saltwater license was in addition to a basic license anyway? Just go back and get a saltwater one. Or do it online at the LDWF website.

First, I am an out of state resident if this has anything to do with it. I paid $5.00 for the freshwater license. Do I just go back and ask for the saltwater one and pay $17.50. I guess I'm screwed and can't get the $5 back for the fresh water?

Out of state may be different, but for instate you have to buy the freshwater license for $9.50 and then the saltwater license is an additional $5.50.
With out of state 1 day permits, you'll probably just have to eat the $5.00 and buy the $17.50 saltwater license.

Went back. Explained the situtation. Very Understanding. Only had to pay the difference. Now hopefully the weather is good and I catch alot of fish. Thanks for the help.

I didn't realize Out-of-state licenses were the same as In-State.

Once they open Bonnett Carre Lake P will be freshwater for the rest of the summer, so just keep that license.

out of state salt water one day trip is all inclusive:LINK
For Residents, must purchase basic fish, plus salt if wish to fish salt water area.
So the clerk was right to only charge you the difference.
