Only thing you can use at night in La is a shotgun with buckshot or a .22 rifle. UNLESS you get the landowner to contact LDWF and get an exemption in writing which you will then have to carry on your person.
You can use anything during daylight.
Yes. It's a stupid fricking law written by people who have never laid eyes on a 300 lb boar.

quote:
On private property, the landowner, or his lessee or agent with written permission and the landowner’s contact information in his possession, may take outlaw quadrupeds (coyotes, armadillos and feral hogs), nutria or beaver during the nighttime hours from one-half hour after official sunset on the last day of February to one-half hour after official sunset the last day of August of that same year. The method of such taking shall be limited to a shotgun no larger than a No. 10 gauge fired with buckshot or smaller or a standard .22 caliber rimfire firearm, and may be with or without the aid of artificial light, infrared or laser sighting devices, or night vision devices.
In order to take feral hogs at night with a centerfire firearm, one must possess a permit which is available at wildlife regional offices.
.17 is not legal to night hunt with.
.22 rimfire includes a .22 magnum on private property.
