It's nothing personal but JJ is not a good QB and will not lead LSU to a MNC. We have had one of the worst passing games in the nation the past two years and he is still being defended. I don't care how many wins he has he will never be in the company as JR, Flynn, Davey, Mauck or Tyler. They helped their teams win and JJ holds his team back. He is very lucky LSU is so talented. If he played during the Tyler days his record would be very different.

oh i am completely agree with what you all are saying.. but if he steps up this season and does great things he will have changed peoples opinions.. even in only his senior year.. it only takes one great season.. but again i totally understand the doubt. his inconsistency on the short passing game is what bothers me most.. that's unacceptable.

This is completely relevant to the question. Mauck is the name most frequently mentioned when speaking of the NC in 2003, but what gets left unsaid ( even if it is understood ) is how the defense just completely shut down EVERYONE that year.

JJ has the luxury of having thrown to LaFell and Tolliver early in his career, having Charles Scott and Stevan Ridley punishing defenders, and utilizing great defenses and special teams to get great field position... not even examining the fact that Josh Jasper attempted more FGs than any kicker in the country when we were on the 8 yard line and couldn't punch it in.

The question, in essence, is EXACTLY how much dirt can a NC ring clean up for him?

ETA: See the post above. It only takes one great season to completely color the opinion of a player...
