Trying to figure out when is the best time to deer hunt according to moon phases. Some say new moon. Some say it doesn't matter. Deer hunters, what do you think?

Deer can see well at night with a full moon and prefer to feed then so it's not usually good hunting early mornings and late evenings. I like to hunt when it's full moon during the middle of the day. I also like to be in the woods when it's about a quarter moon. BUT, with the rut kicking in, the moon business doesn't mean shite.

ETA: This is what I was taught growing up. Hunt how you want to though brah.

Lots of other factors go into it, IMO pressure affects them the most so if you have that, I wouldn't even bother looking at the moon. After that, weather plays th next role. If you can secure those two, the feeding times might give you your best shot, but at my club, I can never get the that point

ALL OF THiS. Deer move in the middle of the day on a full moon. But when the pussies are ready, the deer movement is steady.
Also like ^ said. Weather fronts play a role. Deer move in front of a front.

People will say full moon is bad but I disagree. The deer don't realize the sun is coming up and they will get caught moving back to bed down early in the morning.

We've killed many big bucks on a full moon. Especially with the rut

Excellent. The rut starts in january where i hunt and im trying to take some time off from work to go hunting, and i would just like to hunt during some optimal days to go blast a bruiser.

Thinking about taking off jan 6 - 10 as there is a new moon on the 5th. The rut should be starting around that time as well. Just hope the weather is legit.

Sounds like a good idea.

No moon tonight. North and Central America should be able to view the entire show, which is expected to last 3 1/2 hours if skies are clear. Total eclipse begins at 11:41 p.m. PST Monday or 2:41 a.m. EST Tuesday. The totality phase — when the moon is entirely inside Earth's shadow — will last a little over an hour.
