I was at that game. I was 20 years old. When we arrived in Dallas we picked up a newspaper and they were questioning why LSU was even invited. I mean as far as the media and Arkansas fans were concerned it was a slam dunk victory for Arkansas. We got to the stadium and it was a sea of red cheering woo pig during the whole pregame warmups. I said to myself this is gonna be a long day. Then Joe Labruzzo(RB) and Dave McCormick(LT) proceeded to dominate the hogs. LSU kept pounding the hogs with the running game. When the game was over I actually consoled some old Arky fan who looked like he was ready to leap over the railing.

All things considered it was the greatest LSU bowl game I have ever attended.

This may get whacked but here's a link to the whole story of the game. Scroll to page 52.

LSU was a surprise invite to this bowl. I was in Tennessee when the bowl pairings were announced - Tennessee fans were expecting this bid, and when the Tigers got it, the Tennessee papers were livid. One columnist predicted Ark would easily win by 30 points or more. Tigers didn't get no respect from Arkansas or from their own conference.
