Make sure to get inside of the stadium early. The pregame salute will be happening earlier because of senior day.

I'm from Cape Girardeau, MO it is about 2 hours south of St.Louis. How early is considered early enough to get inside the stadium? What time do the gates open?

2 1/2 hours before kickoff, but sometimes it's a little earlier like 11:45AM.

PS I love the Cape and SEMO--America's Heartland

Chimes friday night, maybe walk ons early Saturday, walk from around there through all of the tailgate, then watch the band go down the hill about noon, check out the area around the pmac for a little bit then go into the stadium.

do not go in the stadium when the gates open. See Mike the Tiger, watch the Band march to the stadium and go in about 45 minutes before the game to catch the warm ups such.

Walk around the grounds about three hours before the game to catch tailgaters. If you tell them it is your first game, you will not go hungry.

Thank you in advance

Kinda late for motels now if you want something fancy or really close. The Microtel at Seigen and I-10 still has rooms I believe, their number is 225-291-6200.
Walk around lot O in front of the Natatorium, lots of tailgaters cook lots of stuff before (and after the game this weekend as it is a 2:30 kickoff) gametime.

Look for hotels in Zachery, just north of BR. For some reason, they seem to always have some rooms. As for tickets, get to the stadium two hours early for the festivities. The guys with tickets will be there, as well. The other advice about where to eat, Mike's cage, et. is all good. Enjoy.
