Voters side with preseason rankings and intangible feelings about who is the "best" before actual accomplishments.

OK DukeV, you went ahead and made me do it:

TCU's opponent rankings by scoring offense/defense:

Oregon St. 59 65
Tenn. Tech (not even in FBS or whatever they call it)
Baylor 26 66
SMU 69 69
Colorado St 107 98
Wyoming 113 97
BYU 101 61
Air Force 45 49
UNLV 115 115
Utah 9 14

Utah has played a worse schedule than probably anyone in the country (2 teams with barely winning records), so their stats were obviously padded, thus overated (TCU's "quality" win along with an average Oregon St. team).

TCU has faced an average offense of 71.55 plus factoring in Utah at 9 and not factoring in Tenn. Tech which does not rank, but would be extremely poor.

TCU has faced an average defense of 70.44 plus factoring in Utah at 14 and not Tenn. Tech

If you take overated Utah out of the equation to equal out the Tenn Tech stats not being included, they have faced an average of the 78.1 offense and 77.5 defense.

Please explain how they "deserve" to be in the NC game because they beat up on some high school teams.
