And the clock started at 18 seconds.
SO it can be seen empirically that if you have 1 second left on the clock, you have time to spike it.
That being said, the whistle was blown at 17 seconds and the clock ran down to 15 for some reason. Really don't understand it.
3 seconds run off the clock on a spike. That could have made a huge difference in the game.

Man, I was yelling at the TV, "Spike the mf'er!" I felt a huge since of relief and I even laughed a little bit when he spiked it.

It took 3 seconds to spike the ball and only 1 second on the last kickoff return. What a bunch of UF BS!

The real point is he knew exactly what to do. He was poised and in control. He got people up to the line

It was a first down, so the clock stopped. It didn't restart till the ref(who was sitting over the ball) signaled. They had to wait on the signal and him to get out of the way. I guess it will always take a few seconds if the refs do it like that.

I know sometimes the TV and actual game clock are not in sync. Didn't notice that no time ran off for the spike, only that the right play was in fact called

The real, real point is that we should have won the Ole Miss game because you can spike a ball in less than a second.
