I'm the worlds worst at editing photos and i was wondering if someone could fix this one up for me. I want to crop out mikes head on a firey background with the text geaux tigers on it. its for a possible tshirt design and the creator will get the credit. thanks in advance!!

You have to consider where you are going to get it printed. Full color photo images are expensive to have printed on shirts.

Also, some shops won't work with JPEG's. So it would be a waste for someone to put a lot of time creating an image that you couldn't use.

If you are asking more for a logo with several solid colors, you are looking for a Vector image. This is quite labor intensive.

Most people on the site use Photoshop. It is the most powerful tool available.

There are free alternatives though. GIMP is also very powerful. It can be tough to learn. I exclusively use PAINT.net. Also freeware. It isn't as powerful as the other two options I mentioned. But the design will generally be more dependent on the artist than the tool.

Again, it depends on what type of machine your brother has. I don't believe most silk screen printers can handle full color t-shirt prints. Silk screening a fairly involved process that first needs to create a stamp.

There are different types of shirt printers though. Some can print on fabric just like paper.

To render Mike's head correctly can be very time consuming. It generally is the case with hair. But if it doesn't have to be that quality, then process is easier and much faster.

Before I create an image, I usually consider the final product. For instance, a signature picture doesn't have to be as detailed as wallpaper.

And all my t-shirt designs are Vectors which is a different type of digital art altogether.

Hope some of that helped.

This is a Vector image (actually an exported raster version of a vector). All the colors are solid and there are no gradients:

This is the type of image silk screeners could use.
