So a cross is the lead hand and a jab is someone's off hand.
No

I'm a righty, so punch from my right is a cross and left is a jab?
Yes
Rear hand is a cross, and as a righty, your right hand will be rear. With few exceptions, fighters use their weak hand as their lead hand.
Blount dropped the BSU kid with he rear hand
quote:
my understanding is a jab can be either hand, it is the style of punch which is executed with lead hand its a short straight stabbing punch whereas the cross is just that--a stronger punch using more body rotation usually coming across the side of the victims face.
You won't hear anyone who knows what they are talking about call a rear hand straight a Jab under any circumstance, no matter how much power is on it. .
