I have to believe that Miles is a better coach now than he was a few years ago. Some of you think that he is an idiot because he has made some idiotic mistakes. I think he is a pretty smart guy and a knowledgeable football coach that will now be less likely to make silly mistakes. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do and I really trust that he will be a very solid coach this year.

you better hope Ensminger or Gonzales is taking over the Henson role to explain game situations to Miles on the sidelines like he's a 7 year old

Who is going to manage the clock for him this year? That would show great signs of learning.

Had a great laugh this am while watching the LSU/UGA game. Sideline reporter pops in and says Miles states that Jefferson is a good young QB and Jefferson needs to learn better clock management.

I want to believe this. but when you follow up the Ole Miss playcalling/ clock stuff with the slip screen into quick sand play at the end of the Cap One, well....

The Auburn fans didn't seem to like Ensminger but I've heard he's decent with QB's. Even though he wasn't hired here for that, maybe he will help out in this area while the Wizard is desinging confusing and mixed up plays (like a LOST writer).

He coached up his average teams to beat OU and almost beat TX. There is a good xs and os coach hidden in there somewhere.

Success should be measured in terms of how quick one learn's from mistakes of the past. I truly believe that COach Miles has taken a different "direction" in coaching as well as management this offseason. I think his immediate success was maybe a little too easy for him, he came across hard times because of decisions made by himself, his staff, & the players recruited to the program but now, I believe he has taken a different approach to preparing his team. I think he has seen the errors of the past & what works & what doesn't, & I like the attitude he gives off regarding the program & its direction now-it's not blowing smoke, its a toughness. I think he feels the pressure & maybe now he understands big time SEC football & what it takes to get to the top & stay there. No one more than him, wants to see this team succeed, hopefully the changes made this offseason-players & coaches, will be the difference we are looking for. Showing up & almost winning isn't good enough, the attitude has to be show up, kick arse, & move on. I think he realizes, that in the SEC, winning a NC one year, doesn't mean squat the next. It is all about what have you done for me lately & I think he knows his lately is not very satisfying. I believe he's a good coach & I think, with the right staff around him (read between the lines: will crowton be his waterloo-tepper), he can,& will, return this program to one of the top 3 in the SEC & the top 10 in the country.

Indicator # 1: Will Miles put politics and emotions ahead of good football player personnel decisions, or play the studs that give us the best chance to contend for a championship?
- Will he start (and give the most carries to) Ford and Ridley if they are the most effective, or will he try to give Sr Richard Murphy the starting role because he is almost as good and an admirable young man?
- Will he let the really good players get in a groove and stay on the field when they do, or will he over-play the multiple fresh horses approach?

Indicator #2: Will Miles be able to empower Billy Gonzales and others to avoid time/game management issues, or will he try to show he can correct this on his own?
- and how effective will he be in managing the egos of himself, Crowton and the rest of the Offensive staff, to blend them into a harmonious unit?

These are 2 of the main indicators to watch closely, and if he gets player assignment and time/game decision-management fixed, the talent on the team, combined with Chief's D and a strong Special teams, will set us up for really good things in 2010.

How would Les know what it takes to get to the top in the SEC? He started out at the top. He has never had to take a SEC team from where they are, to the top.

AGREED! - Can Miles sustain a change in his approach, or at the age of 50-whatever, is his manner of thought and decision making so intrinsic that he cannot change?

Please explain the politics angle. Is Les Miles playing kids that have political connections? Like who?

Please explain your insight as to the relative abilities of each of the players you mentioned. Things like assignment knowlege, pass blocking pick up, zone reading, etc.

Please explain how many plays a should a player be in before a rest? Is this a set number for each player or does that vary by player and conditions? Please explain each factor to me so that I can be better informed as I watch a game.

How will we as a fan know exactly how these issues have been resolved?

Thank you in advance.

He had a 35-7 lead against Texas and lost the game 56-35. There is classic Les Miles game management in there somewhere.

If Zach Lee takes the money then Les has severely fricked up the QB situation yet again.

That's not learning from mistakes.

OSU had no business being up 35-7. They ran out of steam and ran out of depth in that game. There is no way they were going to dominate them for 60 mins.

3 years to recruit a QB and couldn't get it done.

Now if Lee takes it then we will have a either a true Sophmore or Freshman starting in 2012.

How many times have I heard "JJ is only a Sophmore" as an excuse?
