Great performance "BUMPS"

Who would you say got too much of a "bump" from a great performance or not enough of one?
What I mean by a "bump" is that this actor or actress seems to be riding a performance much farther than their subsequent acting gigs should have carried them. To the point where you say, "how does this person keep getting these roles?"
Or in the latter scenario, you really think this actor or actress should have gotten more acting mileage from a certain performance. Meaning, they should have gotten more roles, been in more meaningful shows, had a longer career, based on the potential gleaned from this particular performance.
I'll start by taking the second part: I think Ray Liotta should have had a better/longer career based on his performance in Goodfellas. I know he has been in a number of shows, but IMO, no where near the career he should have had relative to the critical acclaim and performance of that movie.

Ray Liotta has had a distinguished (or at least active) career in comparison to Tom Hulce after Amadeus.

Sam Rockwell is someone who has had a bunch of great roles over the years, but has never been able to make that push to being a star. I think that he is incredibly underrated and I wish that he would've gotten a bump from one of his starring roles (Choke or Moon?).

Yeah, that's a good one. But perhaps when you go from Animal House to Amadeus people don't know what roles to offer you.
