What's the best/most credible source....

for up to date player weights for LSU football players. I always seem to doubt or don't want to believe our D line is so light in the pants.

You must talk to the player directly and ask him his weight.... sometimes they lie too.

They usually tell you inside info at little league games and such

Perhaps I should try stalking them in Wal Mart. Thanks for the tip.

The roster after the players report for summer camp will have the updated weights.
I refuse to call it fall camp when the players report right smack in the middle of summer.

Les keeps the weights a secret just like his secret playbook so he can have the upper hand during the games. We will never know the true weights.

the rant is in full force today
Ummmm I've seen reports that most of the DTs on LSU are like 280+; that's not really that light in the pants. I don't think you have anyone over like 350 but that doesn't seem too bad to me since most hover around 300

Thanks for a sensible answer.

I would feel better with all of our DT's being near 300lbs. How does Chavis plan on stuffing the run (Haynesworth) to let his linebackers mop up. Or perhaps the lighter quicker DT's match up better with spread offenses.
Glad I'm not a coach. The rant is probably glad too!

Trinton
Back in 1957 football season LSU had one of the most if not the most lightest D-line on any team to win a National Championship.
The name of that Defense was the "Chinese Bandits" and they controled the line of scrimage with their quickness and the will to not let anyone control them at the point of contact.
That is the most critical thing for a D-lineman is not to let his counter-part control him at the point of contact and with that advantage they are able to make the play before it has chance to develope.
I am hoping that the speed and quickness that this team has will give them that edge if only they learn to use it to their advantage. Their weight will be an asset and not a liability I want to name this group the

I would expect some nice gains from Downs, since usually young guys put on good weight early and since he was injured that should only increase his chances for weight gain. Also, I'd expect large gains for Pep since he has a large frame and was working very hard to keep his weight down when at end. Brockers is already a big guy and very long, so putting on good weight for him may take longer

A guy that is 280 with stamina and speed will beat a guy that is 300 without those other qualities every time.
The right playing weight is not the heaviest weight.
Was Ali better at 230 or 260 ? Exactly.

Yes, but what you don't mention is that they were 2nd/3rd string, and therefore didn't play much in a game.
White
Go
Bandits
Granted the substitution rules at the time required platooning, so they got a lot more playing time then then a 3rd stringer would today, but they didn't have to play as much as defensive starters do today.
As good as people remember the Bandits, I don't think they were as good as the White team, just usually fresher.
