What does it take to become a BCS school?

Thsi might be a stupid question. But someone aked and i didn't know how to explain it. For instance, u have Boise State, isn't a BCS school, how could they become a BCS school. Does it have anything to do with going to another conference.

A BCS school belongs to one of the 6 BCS conferences. What makes a BCS conference special is that it gets at least 1 automatic bid to a BCS bowl game. Think of it as a club that gets special privileges. A school has to have something that everyone in the club desires to get invited.
