Which games? I'll hang up and listen.
Torres made his debut against Cuba in a WCQ coming on for Heath Pearce at the left mid spot.

read the player bio it says the "left footed Torres has played centrally and out Wide for the US."

Nice try.
Except I watched that game yesterday. They replaced Pearce with him, and played a bastardized 3-5-2 with Donovan and Beasley outside of him. (Beasley was sort of the left back, but not really, because Cuba only had 10 men at that point.)
He's replaced a striker with a couple minutes left in a couple of games, when the US switches to a 4-5-1 and tries to kill a game off, but being an outside mid, to possess and relieve pressure, in a 4-5-1, with a lead against a CONCACAF opponent, is not the same as starting as an outside mid in a 4-4-2.
He plays centrally for his club, and any game for the US where he's made more than a token appearance, he's played centrally.
But tell me more. I'm intrigued.
