If you want to see the difference that the O&G industry makes in the quality of life in LA, compare the I-10 corridor to Alexandria and above.

Thats probably partially true, but if you account for the positive economic impact you probably ought to account for whatever the negative economic impact has been due to the coastal erosion and exacerbation of hurricane impacts from the crew canals that have been cut through marshes. Just sayin, the oil industry is responsible in Louisiana for a lot more than just jobs. Does it balance out? Who knows.
