Of all the remaining recruits with whom we have a legitimate shot, which are the most critical to signing?
Posted on 1/29/10 at 9:43 am to Chewy
LSU needs linemen and LB's...and we could use another WR.
My wish list (in order of importance):
1. Ego Ferguson
2. Brandon Jackson
3. Justin Parker
4. J.C. Copeland
5. Kadron Boone
6. Morgan Moses

- Brandon Jackson is versatile - he has potential at both DT and somewhere on the OL. Jackson's commitment would also increase out chances of keeping Jermauria Rasco in-state next year, and that would make his scholarship well worth it (Rasco will likely be a 5-star, national recruit and either the 3rd or 4th most coveted prospect in the state for 2011).
- I don't feel that we need WR's as much as everyone else seems to think we do. We're actually doing quite well, seeing as how the current team is loaded (starters and depth), and we already have a verbal from Jarvis Landry (potential 5-star) for next year's class. We're also close to landing Bradley Sylve for next year's class (likely 4-star prospect). Toliver and Randal will make up one of if not the best WR duo in the SEC this year, and RS is being moved to slot receiver.
- If we don't get Moses, we don't get him. I do know that there is current talk about his interest in us, and he's basically the only established O-lineman that's expressed interest in us at this point in this class.

There's no realistic and sane person that doesn't realize that Ego Ferguson is LSU's absolute top target right now - whether we get him or not remains to be seen, but he's the most coveted recruit left on our list.
Also, I don't understand where all of the Eric Thomas hype is coming from. Like I said, LSU is NOT desperate for WR's right now, and Eric Thomas is no where near being qualified for an LSU football scholarship - so, let's let the hype die down in regards to Thomas, and let's focus on what's real and important.
If Morgan Moses isn't visiting anymore, then he's probably no longer considering LSU. He's a big body with potential, so that sort of sucks that he's passing on us. In the end, though, his shortcomings may be his downfall wherever he goes - not motivated and slow, and I don't think our OL coach, Stud, can do much about that (or anything else).

+ Wright and possibly Simon for this year
+ Highly touted Landry from next year combined with likely commits from 2 or 3 more just from in-state (Sylve, Lewis, etc.)
Please look at the prospect rankings of those WR's that are on our team right now (C. Tolliver, Williams, etc), and be sure to compare our 2 primary wide-outs (Toliver and Randal) and our primary slot (RS) to that of every other team in the SEC.
Like I said, LSU is loaded at WR.

So you're basing all of this on prospect rankings and assuming guys can come in and contribute right away. That's not how things work in real life. Players have to develop and adjust to be ready for college. Like I said, we have 2 solid receivers. The rest are completely unproven

WRs for next year:
Terrance Tolliver
Rueben Randle
Chris T
Up coming WRs:
James Wright
...
....
Yup WRs are needed

Im sorry but with that 3 deep you just posted you proved WR is going to be one of our weakest positions next season.

There's not really hype....more like we missed the other guys we really wanted and now we're trying to save our asses. I only put him on there because it's a list of people we're considering...and yes we need WRs.

You know an average football has like 10 WRs on their roster right? Even Auburn has +10 WRs on their roster and they're still trying to get more receivers

Just because we have WRs listed on the depth chart, doesn't mean we don't need WRs...those guys haven't shown a whole lot since coming in.

I'm in awe.
I'd have to explain college football, in general, to all of you that don't see what I'm seeing in order to get you to realize what I know.
I'm not going to do that for you guys...especially not a Notre Dame fan or an LSU fan that just ignored our depth chart.
Have fun watching next year...I hope our OL drastically improves its play, and our I hope our secondary can hold-up.
