If the offense improves to somewhere other than the bottom ten percent of FBS teams the criticism will stop. The offense is as bad as Its been in a long long time. The offense as too inconsistent, the QB is too inconsistent.

If his wins are solid wins (i.e. we take the lead and hold it) and not "damn we got lucky" wins, I think LSU could have the same record and people wouldn't be as pissed. Oh and he plays Russell Shepherd alot.

No it won't see 2006 season.

Yeah, it will. Some of the knocks on JR were unfounded, some were not. He didn't establish himself as a leader until his last season and the '06 LSU team may have been the most talented ever.

Jefferson is very well liked, all he has to do is make it happen. Its all on him. He could be the most popular QB ever next year if the lights come on.

Jefferson's season this year > Matt Flynn's season in 2007. Higher completion %, higher QB rating, higher TD/INT ratio. Had he had a great running game/oline, the sacks would be less, the yards would be higher, the TDs would be higher. People really need to take into account the situation when judging JJ. He did pretty well for himself all things considered, but then again, the backup QB that's never played at LSU is ALWAYS the most popular guy on the team. JJ, Lee, Shep, RP, MF, JR, etc. ALL had these types of threads started about them.

You just did. Until now, I don't think race was a factor in this discussion.

I got it from this quote actually
quote:

Certain qb's have to win it all to be respected.

Especially when OP was talking about JR and that was a big issue between Flynn/JR at the time. Also was an issue when JJ vs Lee prior to the season.
If/when Garret does get to start, I anxiously await the "Bench Garret, start #2/#3 QB" threads
. First interception he throws, the calls for #2 will start.

Again if JJ goes 11-1 wins the west and loses in the SECCG these same threads will pop up saying he doen't have it between the ears, not SEC caliber the best qb is on the bench etc etc,,,,heard it all in 2006.

May have been with Flynn and JR. I wasn't overly impressed with Flynn as LSU's starting QB though.

Jefferson is highly popular with the fan base, or was. Not sure if you were posting much last year, but people were calling for JJ over Lee most of the season. Its not always about race, just because the participants are of different color.

With the way lee played last year LSU fans would have called for Osama Bin Laden to come in take over the qb job. These same threads have been popping up since JJ was named starter for the GT game. First the hope was Lee now it is Garrett. Because they are smarter, throw a more catchable ball, can read defenses and are natural born leaders.

Bullcrap. JJ was king of LSU after the GT game. You are reading things into this that don't belong.

Before the season started JJ was the reason fans were high on LSU for the season. Having one of the lowest ranked offenses tends to change peoples minds.

Chris Garrett has the potential to be a good college QB...but he needs to sit and watch another year or two. He could be similar to Mauck and Flynn down the road ( efficient QB who doesn't necessarily win the game with his arm but will not be the reason we lose because he's a smart player)

I haven't seen him but on tape, looks promising from what I can see. Regardless, he will be down on the depth chart based on seniority, regardless of talent.
