I don't know about all that. From what I saw it seems to me he improved on all of those throughout the year.

Staring down recievers

How many young qbs don't stare down their playmakers? Feel free to name a few that don't.

quote:

Dropping too deep for protection

He has improved here.

quote:

Not throwing to receivers in stride.

Again, how many young 19 year olds throw it perfectly in stride? Friday in the first half was probably some of the worst throws I've ever seen out of JJ. But in the second half I saw a different story. I would say that his tendencies to throw to wrs in stride is about where any other young quarterback would be at this point. At least he isn't overthrowing everyone the way JRoc did when he was sophomore.

quote:

Inconsistent, will give you 1-2 good drives a game

More like 3-4. Not great, but would you rather a pick six?

quote:

Not a field leader, manager.

He seems composed to me. I think he plays with courage especially in the second half. Again, are we expecting JJ to emulate the great Peyton Manning at this point? I think he has shown me enough to think that next year he might be able to be an even greater leader.

Maybe I'm being too forgiving, but I just can't bash a kid for doing what the coaches say (probably to a fault), and for completing 61.5% of his passes at 7.32 ypa, and minimizing his interceptions. I think he is on pace to be a good quarterback at LSU. I would say this year he met my expectations. And next year I would expect more.

You are taking objective analysis and making it bashing? Not saying JJ can't be a fine QB. In fact, have said he has the skills to be a fine QB. But there are things limiting his game and he hasn't shown marked improvement. These things limit the LSU offense and he will have to improve drastically in those areas for LSU to be an SEC contender. Les Miles isn't going to start Garrett over JJ no matter what, its JJ's team. But he has to improve in some areas for LSU's offense to improve. He was a major part of the reason LSU's offense was so horrible.
