What kind of feel do y'all get for James Wright. Does LSU offer?
Posted on 12/20/09 at 1:58 pm to Wooly Buckthorn
Yes.
eta: He's visiting Jan. 22nd. Most think he'll probably commit then...

He's had an LSU offer for a while now.
I think he will be an LSU tiger as well.
If he does end up at TTU, you guys stole a really good one from us.

He's a no-doubter. Physically ready to step in;more, than anyone we've been serious about IMO.

He has a offer...and hes probably going to commit real soon unless LSU starts getting WR commits out of nowhere...

We want and need him
Cmon down.

He and Hunter are the two most important WR's in this class. He is a big, fast, polished receiver. Must have for the Tigers.

How can getting a kid from Belle Chasse be considered a "steal"?
Posted on 12/20/09 at 5:27 pm to LSU4ever15
Is that to me?

Yea this is the biggest thing. I think Hunter and Simon and possibly Fobbs have higher ceilings than Wright but he is absolutely ready to stop on the field and contribute right away. I thought Davis was gonna be that guy for us this year but looks like Wright will have to be it.

How does he compare to Fobbs? I think Wright is a little bigger if I am not mistaken, but who is the better prospect?
Also, does Simon or Sam Gibson get a look at WR now that Davis is gone?

Simon gets a look if his grades get him in. I personally think that Wright has more of a ceiling than Fobbs because of his size and strength.

Wright is bigger but Fobbs has him on pure athleticism and speed. As for the better prospect, it's really splitting hairs; one isn't head over heals better than the other. As for me personally, I think Fobbs has a higher ceiling because I don't think he's been coached as well and has more room to improve whereas Wright is pretty polished for this stage in his career. Fobbs also has him in the speed department.
As for Gibson and Simon, Gibson is a safety all the way. It's also as obvious to me that Simon is a freak WR like Michael Clayton and possibly better but this staff thinks he should be a DB. I think it's utterly insane but having said that I also think Cooper is the best coach on this team so if he sees the potential then I'll defer to him. I still think Simon screams WR.

I agree with everything he just said.

All I've been hearing is that as long as LSU had Mike Davis, they wouldn't offer Wright. But now that they lost Davis to the whorns, I guess he is y'alls #1 uncommitted WR prospect, is that right?

I think you got the gist of it.

Wright has had an offer for a while now. When we still had Davis, we weren't exactly pressing Wright. Now that he's out, expect the full-court press to be thrown at him.
