I heard some posters on here saying that the Oklahoma fanbase were basically happy Miles was leaving. I wonder if it was because of the same reasons we want him gone. Just curious. What did the athletic department see in him anyway. His record there was not that great.

Yes, Boone Pickens wanted him out at OK State. He wasn't going to give the university money until Miles was gone. What did Miles have going for him? What did they see in him? I have no idea. His only claim to fame here in Oklahoma was he beat OU twice. That was it. Now, OK State has Gundy, you know, "the Man" and they are doing well. And Boone just keeps on a givin'.

I heard from an Okl St fan the following when Miles was hired...

" you will love him at first, start to hate him after and can't wait to get rid of him at the end" he will drive LSU football down slowly.
give him 5 -6 years"

for whatever is worth.

I live here, and I don't think any of them were to concerned when he left.

Bertman trusting Schram..

They were both great in their prime, then again so was Al Davis Junior!

All of my Okie friends OSU and OU fans were elated when Miles left. They asked me why he got tapped for the job. It's just a shame. We are Coker-ed.

It was better than just about anybody's record at Okie State in the same time period.

Is there a Bertman and Schramm story involving Miles that I haven't heard? Schramm died in 2003.

Are you thinking of the famous advice that Joe Dean got from Gil Brandt? "Just hire Curley Hallman and never look back."

Gil Brandt..that's it.

Didn't Bertman talk to Gil Brandt about Miles? Or was it David LaFleur from being under him at TE?
