So the student section wasn't adjusted for this season?

Wasn't there talk that the student section in the PMAC would be changed so that the students were all closer together and could actually band together as one during the game? It looks like it's the same arrangement as it's always been. So much for that.

Is that true? Seems like it would have been easy enough to do when they were talking about it during last season. That was before season tickets were bought so it wouldn't have disrupted anyone's seats they already had for this season.

Nunez also said the athletic department is considering moving the student section for the
2010-2011 season.
“We’re investigating that for next season,” he said. “We’d like our students to be as close to the court as possible.”
Current suggestions include moving student seating behind the east basket, which is the basket to the right of the current student section.
The student section for the LSU women’s basketball games is already behind the east
basket.
Nunez said the plan is “not a done deal,” and a decision will be made later in the season.
The women’s basketball season begins Nov. 10. The men tip off Nov. 13.

They tried to do it for this season, but it was tough to move all the people who had season tickets behind the basket to the sideline. They also had to take out the sections where the students usually sit because the seats were all messed up and they were worried they wouldn't get it finished in time, but they did change the "pit" area around a little bit.
Next year, the student section will be behind the one of the baskets.

Shouldn't the students be where it was in the days when it meant something, like mid court on one side. I am amazed how shoddily the students are treated now by the school. We sat courtisde first couple of rows and the opposing team heard us. Same in football. Feel bad for the students and the players.
I guess $ talks and studetns don't matter

on the sides, the students are too damn far from the court.

This may be true, but I would much rather have students in the middle of the floor where they can really be heard on both ends of the court, not just on the end they are seated.

I'm sure those people wouldn't have minded their seat upgrade.

I like being down by the side of the court, though. You can see a lot more than when you're behind the goal.

Its those stupid TAF seats that keep the students away from the court. And I agree, you can't see anything when you sit behind the goal. I'd rather be on the sideline.
Basketball is the one sport, IMO, where the student section alone can make a huge impact on the game. And the school says they want to make the PMAC a tough place to play, but until they move the students close to the court and in one unified section, it will never happen

the problem is the set up. They have that media table and the rich people "floor" seats in front of the students. if they did away with those and moved the students all the way in, it'd work.
