Great article, as usual, Carl.
This syndrome of people taking one thing and turning it into something else is reflective of our society as a whole. In sports, the effect is rather benign overall but when applied to other aspects, say politics, the effects can be literally life changing.
It's too bad that we've developed into such a hateful and selfish society that we can't simply take things at face value and process the information simply for what it is.

Carl, somebody needs to ask Les this:
"You said that the offensive line could be as good as any you've ever had here at LSU." So before the season you were either lying to the media and LSU fans, or you are a terrible judge of talent. Which one is it?
I know that he doesn't want to talk poorly of his players, and that he will try to encourage them "through the media", but the fans, and I would assume the media, don't like being lied to. If you're going to talk big about your players, you'd better tell the truth or the fans and media will turn on you.
