It breaks up the rhythm of the offense imo. It's just too slow.

I saw Florida doing the "whole-offense-look-to-the-sideline" thing as well. Here is a thread from Gator fans talking about it:

Monte Kiffin forced us into the Meerkat Manor Offense
when they rush up to the LOS and then all the backs stand up to check the sign from the coaches
This mearkat "fast break" is basically a no huddle with training wheels. Tim is a senior, so the coaches need to let him go.
I'm no coach but it would seem to me, why not give our 3 year starter TT the liberty to call some plays its not like he can't
