Yeah, seems like they were having a hell of a time with that one rectangle on the bottom left. Helps to put into perspective how big the damn thing is...Did you see the guy's hand sticking out? Looked tiny.

The state of Oklahoma was on the screen for the majority of the night

It looked great, hopefully they fix that little problem before next week.

I was a little disappointed. About 1/2 of the screen is devoted to advertisements. Every once in a while the entire screen was used but not very often.

Also, the down, distance, ball on yardline, qtr, etc. was in extremely small letters that I had a hard time reading them. The remaining time outs per team was totally missing.

Well, there's your problem. You just have to take a little walk if you want to read it.

The scoreboard is terrible. They advertised Tiger View in a whole new way during the spring game. The only time it's full screen is when we get a first down. It's half advertisements. Typical LSU. Very disappointing.

Exactly what UT fans said when they unveiled our new board. It's gotten better, but still way too much is used for ads. Since LSU's screen is smaller, it makes it look even worse. All in all, very disappointing.

beautiful...enormous high def screen, very bright and vivid colors.....

trouble is, as the others said, probably 40% of it is taken up with advertisements....to waste a jumbotron on inanimate advertisements is utter stupidity IMO...you could hang a lighted coke sign on the side of the screen and have exactly the same effect while using the jumbotron for it's intended use....I am irritated at both LSU as well as the advertisers....

I just signed up to post about this. I saw the other thread about this the other day and emailed Herb Vincent and Verge Ausberry about it today. Their response was essentially that LSU has contracts with these advertisers for the next several years and half of the big screen will continue to be occupied by these ads.

This begs the question - why spend so much money (this was part of a $7 million project) on upgrading a scoreboard to have an HD screen, if you're going to use half of it on permanent ads? Why not spend the money elsewhere, and just hang banners or lit-up ads (like there are on the south end zone scoreboard)? I think they may change their minds if more people contact them about this, and I imagine more people will contact them as the season goes on. The screen picture is great, but they only use half of it on game action or replays 95 percent of the time, which is a bit shortsighted.

They did indicate they will address the small game information at the bottom of the screen so everyone can see it, so that's good, but having the ads like they do is almost laughable.

In any event...

Thanx for the info, bugs. Typical LSU, it's all about the dollars. It's almost like the old bait and switch from Sears. It's an HD ADVERTISEMENT BOARD....not a scoreboard.

Maybe somebody could sneak in some porn to put on it. Would probably look like a B-movie horror flick, "Attack of the Gigantic Boobs!"
People might actually flee the stadium, or run to the concession stand to order a glass of milk.
