Without any camp performances:
Bates probably wouldn't have a LSU offer,
Fordham would be a 2 star without a LSU offer,
Mathieu would be a 2-3 star without a LSU offer,
Porter would be a 3 star and might not have an offer,
And Trevon Reed would be an athlete instead of a sure handed WR.

There are lots of times where camps matter more than recognition and accomplishments received before, during, or after one's junior season.

Agreed. I would rather the coaches work these kids out and make their judgements then rely solely on tapes. For one the level of competition plays a huge factor when evaluating these kids. Ex: Bryce Brown had a highlight reel that was second to none. Yet he was playing Kansas HSFB. I am not sold on the fact he was the number 1 back. Michael Ford's level of competition wasn't the greatest but considerably better than Brown's. All these recruits come in raw by college standards. So you get a smart kid that works hard. The son of a couch with lots of athletisism and size. Thats about all you can want in a recruit. They will make him a football player. You can bet your arse on it. LSU with limited slots available and only 1 spot for a DT, won't take a scrub we take DORSEY'S BABY

it seems he went to Alabama's camp on sunday and monday and was in serious consideration for a scholarship, according to his head coach. On a whim, they came here to camp on Tues and Wenesday, and we got him,
