Anyone try the new Italian place on 59 called Taquira? Place is packing them in.

What's the menu like? Kid friendly? $-$$$$$?

You're right. It has to be Mexican.

We went here tonight. Waiting on alcohol license for those wanting to drink. They said you can bring your own if you want. The food was very good, standard Mexican fare. They did have some things on the menu that were different, beef tongue was one of them. The prices are very reasonably. One of the owners said a large part of the menu will change every four months, which sounds great. Yes,it`s worth a try. Good kids menu.

Thanks Tiger2. They're really packing them in right now. Good to see as that spot has been a dead zone. Mandeville needs a good Mexican rest. since George's has fallen off.

+1

I will echo Tiger2's review. Good, fresh tasting mexican. Very reasonable prices. I hope they stay for a long time. We are right down 59 from them and we've been making the trek to Carreta's on Causeway approach because even Mi Mammacitas on 190 isn't good anymore.

They need more room. Try to go on an off night because it gets loud when it's full. Should be a fantastic place to sip a margarita on the deck during fall and spring though.

While you're on 59 (or if this place is packed) make sure you try Boscos in the new mini-mall next to Petunias. Really strong Italian food.

Yep, you guys (lsu fans) are all over Mandevegas. We're in between 59 and the trace a block or two south of the 1088 intersection. Nice little neighborhood back in there.

Oddly, my cousins personalized license plate says ellessu. Thought for a minute you might be her.
Their other car is tgrbait.

ETA: Random question. What do you think about a great little seasonal boiled seafood place in Mandeville. The kind that has a small little "kitchen" in back, and simple little beer bar serving super cold domestics and pitchers in front, screened in dining area with ceiling fans and picnic tables to eat on. Seats about 50-75 ppl. Open for lunch and dinner from about September through May, closed during the summer when it's unbearably hot.

It struck me the other day that we don't have a little outdoor dive type boiled seafood shack like that. If you want boiled seafood on the cheap in Mandeville, you have to drive to Madisonville or Slidell. What do you think?

I'd got to it but then again I'll go anywhere/anytime for good boiled shrimp.
