If we miss the playoffs this year

It would be up there.
'93 (Wade Wilson year) was probably the worst. Started off 5-0 and ended up missing the playoffs.

2002 sucked, we started out 6-2, and missed the playoffs by like half a game or something like that
2003- Carney missed extra point knocked us out but we still wouldn't have made it if he made it so not as bad a few weeks later
2007/2008 were bad too
A miss this year would probably be like the last 2 years

Maybe 1988 was the worst. We were 9-3 and ended up in a three way tie with 49ers and Rams at 10-6. We missed the playoffs and 49ers went on to win the Super Bowl.

that was the first year I really understood football...well at least the basic rules

In terms of preseason expectations nothing beats missing the playoffs after making it to the NFC championship.
