Football didnt start at LSU until 2001. I havent seen that jersey at any time.

I will preface this statement with what the frick do I know, but I don't think they made they style of jersey, with the mesh back then.

It's fake. No names on college back then. No stipes on shoulders. The signature appears real, However, the jersey was not part of the Tigers' wearing apparel. Sorry.

Well here is a picture of ole Y.A. back in the late 40's. No shoulder stripes, but they have them on the elbows.
My understanding is that the jersey was the same color of the cannon jersey posted earlier, with purple numbers, white pants, and this helmet:
